The first 45km or so today weren’t that great. My legs felt completely empty and apparently did not want to have anything to do with cycling 100 miles. Nevertheless, things improved after that.
I wasn’t originally planning to stop there but given my lack of energy I figured it was a good idea. Luckily it was, I met a group of 6 or 7 other cyclists and long story short, ended up cycling with them for the next 70 kilometres. It was great to ride and I suppose just speak to other people and I’m really grateful to all of you for inviting me along (if any of you are reading this) and I hope the rest of your trip goes well.
The only slight downside was getting a puncture and then having a bit of a problem with one of my jockey wheels, but that is now fixed (thanks to Keith and Ryan for that). The puncture is a bit annoying as that takes me up to 10 in total now. To be fair, that’s still pretty good considering the distance I’ve done but it would have been nice to keep it lower.
The final 70 kilometres passed really quickly and there’s not all that much to mention. I am now away from Lake Superior though which is good; I still can’t get over how big it is.
I’ve been pretty useless this evening and I’m now looking at less than 6 hours sleep so I really need to sign off now. It’s been a good day though.

Your right about those lakes, I recall the first time I flew over to the States, I was convinced the pilot had taken the wrong direction, I could not figure out how we had flown the Atlantic hit land then back across the Ocean, did not make sense at the time, I should have concentrated more in my Geography class. For a bloke that is suffering with his knee, had a puncture and issue on a jockey wheel, that was a punishing distance and speed you put in, you certainly know how to make a 50 year old feel decidedly unfit. Hope you have a good nights sleep.
