So yesterday – as I mentioned – I wasn’t planning to ride. This was actually quite a good thing because as it happened, our ferry from the South to North Island was delayed by 3 hours….for absolutely no reason at all it seems. So if you’re planning a similar journey, do not use Interislander ferries, use the other company.
As for today, I owe a big thank you to Giles and Paddy who rode with me for the first couple of hours and made it much more enjoyable.
Having ridden out of Wellington, I have now been through my first antipodal point which is quite good to tick off. (The other one is somewhere in Spain.)
The rest of the day was ok. The wind wasn’t too detrimental but I did get wet and the road wasn’t overly nice to ride on. Anyway, I have another long day tomorrow then only three left in New Zealand… so not long to go.
Distance: 122.8 miles / 197.5 km
Riding Time: 8:21:27
Av. Speed: 14.7 mph / 23.6 kph
Keep it going, Tom!

antipodal, had to look that one up, it’s late in the evening here, but think I got the gist of it, few more days then the USA, verging on the home leg.
