Day 107 – Cessnock to Quirindi

When I woke this morning, my knee had really stiffened up. It’s been improving a lot over the last few days and by the end of yesterday I couldn’t feel it at all. The fact that it is now hurting in a different place is more than a bit annoying. It’s not too bad when I ride but walking is painful and I can’t fully bend it either.

Setting off early was cold as well. I have sacrificed heat and civilisation by heading inland in the hope that it won’t be as busy as the coast road. Unfortunately I am yet to see the benefits.

To rub it in, one local said this to me: “huh… you’ve chosen a weird part of the country to cycle through”. As if I hadn’t already noticed…

It hasn’t all been bad. In general I’ve had a pretty good day, it’s just hard to pick out a reason why… I suppose that’s better than it being the other way around though.

Distance: 118.9 miles / 191.3 km
Riding Time: 8:29:53
Av. Speed: 14.0 mph / 22.5 kph

  1. Tom, I think I am with you in your train of thought, well sort of, the only difference is you are well beyond 50% around the ruddy world, where as I only made the effort to cycle to Competa up in the hills beyond Frigiliana this morning. Felt good as the sun was still tucked in behind the mountains, felt better this afternoon after a few beers, take my hat off to you sir, incredible.
